Everything Old Is New Again ...

This is Ney Matogrosso and his band, Secos + Molhados, on Brazilian TV (!) in 1973:

Skank, Brazilian Rock Interlude ...

When Spiderman Plays, Brazil Is Unstoppable

Brazil won its 3rd straight World Cup men's volleyball title by steamrolling past host Italy and the great Cuban team with an awesome display of power, finesse, and unparalleled athletic team choreography, pure poetry in motion, under the command of legendary coach Bernardinho, who is the Alvin Ayley of volleyball.

And when Peter Parker, a.k.a Giba, is healthy, the spectacular Brazilian team is well nigh unbeatable. Here's Giba, the best in the world, best ever (you ain't got nuthin' on Giba, Karch), in action. AWESOME:

"I dabbled into witchcraft. I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do. One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar and I didn't know it. I mean, there was a little blood there and stuff like that.

We went to a movie and then had a little picnic on a satanic altar."

Cool 1929 Football Match In Brasil

Corinthians FC, Brasil's 2nd most popular football club -- after Flamengo -- this year celebrates its 100th anniversary. Recently unearthed is footage from 1929 of Corinthians' 6-1 victory over Italian champ, Bologna. It's the oldest known film of a Corinthians game. The match was played at Palestra Italia stadium which still stands much larger today, in São Paulo. The team was described as a "valorous side that brilliantly and smashingly defeated Bologna by 6-1." Before the game, an old airplane buzzed the field. One of the Corinthians stars, Grané, scored twice. He was famous for a powerful shot that earned him the nickname "Cannon 420" after a German "Big Bertha" type cannon used in WW1. The audio is in Portuguese but the 81-year-old images speak for themselves. Very Cool!
